With colder weather arriving law enforcement agencies warn drivers not to leave vehicles unattended while warming them up. Every year cars left idling unattended are stolen out of private driveways and parked on public streets and investigators say it is one of the top causes of vehicle theft. It is against state law to leave a car running unattended on a public road and a violation results in a $139 ticket.
