Growing fentanyl use in the region in 2022 translated into more deaths. According to coroners with Chelan and Grant counties, fentanyl accounted for far more drug-related overdoses in 2022 compared to 2021, with Chelan County reporting fentanyl deaths nearly quadrupled. In Grant County, 17 fentanyl deaths were reported in 2022. -0-
WENATCHEE – 2022 ended with more mountain rescues. Chelan County Mountain Rescue’s 2022 annual report shows a 93% increase, with 28 reported last year. The most rescue missions by CCMR were in October. 63% of those rescued were hikers, 30% were climbers and 7% were snowmobilers. -0-
