Former Basin City cattleman charged in Tyson cattle con wants to remain free

RICHLAND – The former Basin City cattleman, charged with conning Tyson Foods out of hundreds of millions of dollars is asking that his sentencing be postponed. The Capital Press reports that Cody Easterday, formerly of Easterday Ranches, claims he needs more time to raise the money needed to repay Tyson Fresh Meats.
Easterday billed Tyson for cattle that did not exist, pocketing $233 million. Easterday faces up to 20 years in prison and is scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 24. However, a judge set a Jan. 6 hearing to review this latest reques, and will consider the motion to postpone sentencing until after April 28.
