A off-duty Grant County Fire District 6 member is called a hero for rescuing a driver whose car was on fire near Soap Lake. According to the district firefighter Daniel Baergen and his wife were on SR 17 when he saw an individual waving his arms near Lake Lenore. Baergen then saw the vehicle ablaze and used a rock to smash the window and get the driver out. Other than cuts and scratches the driver was not hurt.
