Douglas County officials are asking for help to recover the apples Governor Jay Inslee brought when he visited visited Bridgeport last weekend. The apples were grown at the Governor’s Mansion in Olympia and officials learned they tested positive for apple maggot larvae. Some of the apples were gifted to the town of Malden and a retirement home in Omak.Apple Maggots are an incredibly serious pest and could have dire consequences for the orchardists of Douglas County.
