The driver charged for fleeing the scene of a Desert Aire crash takes a plea deal. Prosecutors say Vivian Duarte took an Alford plea to vehicular assault and felony hit-and-run in connection with the June 2019 crash which critically injured a passenger. An Alford plea means Duarte doesn’t admit to committing the crimes but believes she would be convicted at trial. Police say Duarte ran away from the crash scene and turned herself in a few days later.
