Construction of a larger Grant County Fire District 5 station is continuing with a goal of completing the Neppel Road structure by this fall. Work began last Spring and according to District 5 Chief Dan Smith the $500,000 construction cost is paid for using income generated by wildland firefighting efforts. The new building seven bays compared to four in the current facility which Smith says is necessary with population expanding in the area.
