You may be paying a bigger price for smaller apples. Industry experts are predicting an 11% dip in Washington apple crops after two years of volatile weather. An apple grower with the Washington Farm Bureau reports a 33% decrease in harvestable apples in her crop. Growers are also seeing a reduction in apple size, after extreme heat this summer and cold temperatures this spring put a stress on the trees.
