Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office getting help addressing mental health needs at jail

SPOKANE – The Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office is getting some help addressing mental health needs at the jail.
On Tuesday, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Washington awarded a nearly half-million-dollar
Department of Justice grant to the Kittitas County Jail. Officials said the funds will go towards additional staff training and resources for inmates who suffer from mental health and substance abuse disorders, with the goal of decreasing the likelihood of recidivism when inmates are released from custody.
