Social media posts calling for a gas boycott in hopes of lowering rising prices is going viral. On Tuesday, GasBuddy.com said, the demand for fuel is expected to rise significantly in the coming weeks. However, an effort to fight back is apparently gaining steam following a TikTok message asking drivers not to fill up their tanks over the Fourth of July holiday, from July 3 through July 5. Analysts say the proposed petroleum protest won’t work, however, because it’s not a long enough pause to constitute a drop in prices.
