Severe weather forces halt of baby formula production, amid nationwide shortage

Severe weather has forced Abbott Nutrition to stop production at a Michigan baby formula factory, amid a nationwide shortage. The plant had just restarted after being closed for several months due to safety violations. The company expects production and distribution to be delayed for a few weeks as it assesses damage and re-sanitizes the factory after heavy rains caused some flooding. Abbott is one of just four companies that produce about 90% of U.S. formula.
