WSP cracking down on hit and run drivers

OLYMPIA – The state’s new Hit-and-Run Alert system is up and running. The Washington State Patrol (WSP) launched the system Tuesday [Aug. 1], and said it’s designed to improve the tracking and recovery of vehicles involved in serious hit-and-run collisions. The state recorded more than 300 hit-and-runs last year, resulting in serious injury or death, according to WSP, and officials said this is a crucial tool in promoting road safety and justice for victims of these often devastating crimes.
