MAZAMA – The WSDOT says it took seven weeks to clear enough snow to make a 44-mile stretch of the ‘North Cascades Highway’ passable. The road usually closes between November and May due to excessive snow and avalanche danger. The WSDOT announced the North Cascades Highway officially reopens on Wednesday [May 10]. Commuters will be able to use the North Cascades Highway beginning at 10 a.m. tomorrow morning.
