OTHELLO – A second grade teacher in Othello was awarded for her quick actions during a police incident near the school Thursday. Othello police began a foot chase of a wanted man along Olympia Street and they ended up on the playground, where Lauren Rathbone immediately got on the PA system and ordered the school into lockdown. Staff and teachers quickly ushered kids to safety, officials told Source ONE News. Mrs. Rathbone was awarded the chief’s Excellence Award.
