ELLENSBURG – Autopsy cases are stacking up due to a staff shortage at the Kittitas County Coroner’s Office. The lack of forensic pathologists in Washington State has created a backlog, and Kittitas County Coroner Nick Henderson said he hopes a bill recently passed in the state Senate will address that need and overwhelming work load. The bill will offer up to $25,000 in student loan repayment for scientists entering the forensic pathologist field. Senate Bill 5523 is now being considered in the House.
