ELLENSBURG – A local man is recovering after being badly burned in a fire at his home north of Ellensburg early Sunday morning. Kittitas County Sheriff’s officials say, Jerry Jarnigan was trying to fight the blaze at his home on Elk Heights Rd., which was fully engulfed in flames when crews arrived. Jarnigan’s daughter says her parents lost everything and she has started a GoFundMe to help raise money for the couple. Investigators say a generator is suspected to have started the fire in the machinery shop at the home.
