An Ellensburg man is going to prison for committing the biggest contractor fraud scheme in state history, according the Washington Department of Labor. On Monday, 61-year-old John Robert Mulinski was sentenced to 57 months in prison for three counts of first-degree theft. Mulinski pleaded guilty last month to the felony charges. He’s accused of bilking customers out of millions of dollars for unfinished construction jobs. A nearly two year long investigation found Mulinski used other contractors’ registration numbers and misled homeowners, including senior citizens, between 2017 and 2020 in Kittitas and Yakima counties.
