Cody Easterday, convicted in $244 million “ghost cattle” scam, sentenced

A local cattle farmer whose greed got the best of him finally ‘faced the music’ on Tuesday when he was sentenced to 11 years in prison for scamming Tyson Foods and another company out of $244 million. 51-year-old Cody Easterday was sentenced after charging the fraud victims for approximately 265,000 head of cattle that did not exist. Easterday owned Easterday Farms. He pleaded guilty last year to wire fraud for his $244 million “ghost cattle” scam, which is one of the largest-ever fraud schemes in the Eastern District of Washington.
