Black bear that attacked woman in Leavenworth captured, euthanized

LEAVENWORTH – The black bear that attacked a woman in Leavenworth early Saturday morning was euthanized by the Department of Fish and Wildlife. The adult female bear was found later the same day and lethally removed.
Two nine-month old cubs that were with the momma bear were transported to PAWS wildlife rehab facility.
Chelan County Sheriff’s deputies say the woman fought back by punching the bear several times when she was attacked while walking her dog along Commercial Street. She was treated at Cascade Medical Center for her injuries.
