Speeding likely factor in fatal Labor Day crash near Quincy

QUINCY – Speeding is likely what caused a fatal Labor Day crash southwest of Quincy. The wreck occurred Monday afternoon in the 20000 block of Road 6 Northwest, where a vehicle reportedly was traveling at a high rate of speed when it skidded off the road, struck a power pole knocking out power to about 110 PUD customers, hit a parked car, and then rolled before coming to a stop after colliding with a flatbed trailer, according to the sheriff’s office. One person in the car died at the scene. The other occupant was taken to Quincy Valley Medical Center. The investigation is ongoing.
