The Adams County Jail inmate who was brutally attacked remains hospitalized. According to a statement from the sheriff’s office, 21-year-old Anthony Vargas-Martinez was admitted to Spokane Sacred Heart Hospital in critical condition Tuesday morning after he was severely beaten by his cellmate, but appears to be doing better. Sheriff’s officials say Vargas-Martinez is out of the intensive care unit and is now talking.
