Nesting birds prompt closure on stretch of Methow [MET-how] Wildlife Area

WINTHROP – A 240-acre section of the Methow [MET-how] Wildlife Area is closed through September. According to the Spokesman Review newspaper, a pair of sandhill cranes are nesting in an area off SR 20, and Game officials are hoping that closing that stretch of the reserve will improve help safeguard the endangered birds.
