Deadly Texas elementary school shooting has local school districts on high alert

(Kennewick, WA) – Area school districts are reacting after Tuesday’s deadly shooting at a Texas elementary school. School safety is certainly on the minds of students, staff, and parents following the massacre that left 19 children and two teachers dead, after an 18 year old gunman entered the school. The Kennewick School District released a statement Wednesday morning, assuring parents the district has safety measures in place and are working closely with the police department on active shooter and situational training.

The Moses Lake School District says their school resource officers are on high alert and the district also encourages residents if they see something to say somethng. The shooter in the Uvalde, Tx. school massacre posted online threats just before the incident. Students can use the districts STOPit app to report anything they think may be suspicious.
