Local police departments get funding for new equipment to preserve sexual assault evidence

OLYMPIA – A handful of law enforcement agencies in north-central Washington are being provided funding to expand storage for sexual assault evidence. State Attorney General Bob Ferguson announced Monday his office is allocating funding to 53 law enforcement agencies for refrigeration units to ensure evidence does not expire due to lack of capacity, including the Chelan, Douglas, and Okanogan County Sheriff’s Office, as well as the Soap Lake, Ephrata, and Moses Lake Police Departments.
