Proposed ‘burn out bill’ has some Washington state hospitals concerned

A proposed ‘burn out bill’ aimed at ensuring a safe and sane work environment at healthcare facilities, has some Washington state hospitals concerned. The Summit Pacific Medical Center says the legislation will make it harder for rurual community hospitals to keep staff amid an already short supply of workers. The Washington State Hospital Association estimates a current shortage of more than 6,000 nurses in Washington state. If House Bill 1868 passes, an additional 10-15,000 nurses would be needed.
