Suspects in Okanogan pot shop theft will off the hook for restitution

SPOKANE – Three men convicted of stealing nearly $77,000 worth of marijuana from an Okanogan [ow·kuh·naa·guhn] County retail business will not have to pay restitution to the victim. In a ruling on Friday, the state appeals court determined that the Okanogan County Prosecutor’s Office failed to ask for restitution within the 180-day period under state law. The trio pleaded guilty to the December 2015 theft from the Winthrop dispensary, and all three have completed their sentences, according to court records.
