New law aims for cleaner community in 2022

OLYMPIA – Beginning Jan. 1, restaurants in Washington will no longer automatically include single-use food service items like utensils, condiments and straws with food orders. The change is part of a new state law that restricts the use of those items by restaurants, cafeterias and other food service providers, aimed at reducing waste and litter, according to the state Department of Ecology. Customers can still request individual items if needed.
