Moses Lake nurse pleads guilty to ‘altering patients’ morphine to support addiction

SPOKANE – A Moses Lake nurse has pleaded guilty to altering patients’ morphine medications to support her opioid addiction. According to the U.S. Attroney’s Office for the Eastern District of Washington, 40-year-old Esther Rae Tuller used syringes to remove morphine and ingest them while working at Confluence Health between August 2019 and April 2020. Authorities say Tuller would replace the morphine with a saline solution and attempt to glue the caps back onto the vials. Tuller faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison when she is sentenced in March 2022.
