ELLENSBURG – Preventing overdoses and suicides is the goal of a proposed sales tax in Kittitas County. The commission board plans to approve the new tax which would go towards mental health and substance abuse efforts, as the county is in “crisis mode,” officials said, with six overdose deaths in less than a three-month period, and a young person taking their own life, KAPP-KVEW reports. The commissioners will vote on the mental health tax during their Dec. 21 meeting.
