Health care delays at VA’s in eastern Washington have officials on high alert

Department of Veterans Affairs’ Deputy Secretary Donald Remy is under scrutiny after complaints about patient care issues at VA hospitals across eastern Washington, the Spokesman-Review reports. Remy is responsible for the rollout of a new health records system that caused delayed care at Spokane’s Mann-Grandstaff VA Medical Center, which also has an outpatient clinic in Wenatchee. Lawmakers recommended that Veterans Affairs address fundamental problems with the system.
