Ephrata Man Loses Assault Conviction Appeal

A man appealing his conviction for assaulting two Ephrata police officers loses his argument. In early 2019 56-year-old
Wayne Symmonds of Ephrata was found guilty of hitting the officers as they tried to take him into custody for trespassing at a Basin Stree gas station but Symmond’s lawyers argued their client was entitled to a pre-trial hearing and offers used unapproved language during the trial. The court agreed the pre-trial hearing should have been held but upheld the conviction.
