The state employment security department says those who claimed COVID-19 unemployment benefits over a six-week period that began Aug.1 will receive an additional $1,800 in their Sept. 21 benefit payment. That’s due to the emergency federal unemployment executive order signed by President Donald Trump. Those collecting benefits during the six-week period also need to have answered an eligibility question on the state ESD website.
