An Ellensburg park is renamed in memory of a fallen Kittital County Sheriff’s deputy who had a passion for the outdoors. Deputy Ryan Thompson was shot and killed during a March 2019 shootout with a gunman in the town of Kittitas. According to the Daily Record Thompson enjoyed fishing, hiking, camping and otherwise enjoying the great outdoors Thompson park is at the intersection of Naneum Road and Vantage Highway.
