The State Department of Commerce is awarding over $1.3 million to help increase child care availability. 16 organizations will get the grants awarded during the first round which goes through June 2021. Commerce Director Lisa Brown says thousands of parents are either paying more than they could afford, or struggling to find quality child care facilities and programs near where they live or work and that was before COVID-19.
