The state Department of Natural Resources as issued a temporary statewide ban for target-shooting on all DNR-managed lands which includes around 3 million acres. Commissioner of Public Lands Hilary Franz says with hotter and drier conditions wildfire risk increases significantly, and they must take reasonable steps to prevent human-caused fires. Commissioner Franz is also encouraging private landowners to consider target shooting restrictions on their property. The bad does not effect legal hunting.
