The Grant County Sheriff’s Office is inviting former Seattle Police officers to cross the Cascades and become a sheriff’s deputy. The Seattle City Council recently voted to cut the department’s budget which is projected to eliminate 100 officers. It also lead to the resignation of Police Chief Carmen Best. Othelloi Police are also hiring and offering a $7,500 bonus for what is called a lateral hire meaning the officer already has experienc with another department.
