Congressman Dan Newhouse expressed his thanks to U.S. Department of Agriculture Sonny Perdue for adding apple and potato producers to those eligible for payments under the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program. Newhouse said apples and potatoes are two huge economic drivers for Washington state and producers have experienced significant damages. Newhouse and Senator Maria Cantwell led the state’s congressional delegation in petitoning Perdue to allow the two crops into the program.
