Washington To Release Inmates Amid Outbreak

The Washington Department of Corrections announced it plans to release around 1,000 inmates jailed for non violent offenses as a result of the coronovirus outbreak. COVID-19 spread through the Monroe Correctional Complex resulting in five workers and seven inmates being infected. Last week inmates at Monrow petitioned the state supreme court to release inmates older than 60 or who have underlying health conditions along with those close to the end of their sentences.
