With social distancing rules being carefully observed, groundbreaking took place Friday for a new Grant County Fire District 8 station in Mattawa. Two years ago Grant County finalized the purchase of a parcel at Highway 243 and Road 22.5. Work was expected to begin by late 2018. The land cost was $290,000 and the entire station is expected to cost $2.5 million. A construction completion date isn’t known.
