The State Employment Department reports there was a decline in first-time unemployment claims this week compared to last week. Just over 82,000 filed initial claims bringing the total to more than 705,000 since businesses began shutting down in mid-March due to the coronavirus outbreak. Over 600 Grant County residents filed first-time claims. The highest number of first-time claims in the county was the week of March 22 through the 28.
