State Senator Judy Warnick is sponsoring a bill to increase production of affordable housing east of the Cascades. The measure proposes to use a local infrastructure investment program instead of more taxes or mandates so communities can meet housing demands. Warnick’s bill is currently in committee and she says it has strong bipartisan support. Chelan Assemblyman Mike Steele is sponsoring a similar measure in the house which was approved by that chamber’s finance committee.
