The Moses Lake man found guilty in the accidental shooting of his girlfriend is appealing his sentence. Prosecutors say Jose Espinoza Jr. was charged with assault while armed with a deadly weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance and two counts of tampering with a witness. He was found guilty last month and sentenced to nine-and-a-half years in jail. Espinoza’s attorneys cited a 2018 accidental shooting case as precedent for a lesser sentence.
