A shortage of staff at the Grant County Work Release Center in Ephrata means it will be shut down for a three-month period beginning March 1. Authorities say staffing levels are down 20 percent due to medical issues, mandatory training, residential relocating and divisional transfers. Work Release inmates will be temporarily moved to the Grant County Jail and Work Release staff will be temporarily reassigned to the jail.
