If you see a fire along State Route 24 east of Mattawa today authorities want you to know it’s a controlled burn over a five-acre area. The state Department of Transportation says it is working with the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, Hanford Fire and others on the controlled burn of tumbleweeds from milepost 62 to 67. Work begins at 9:30 a.m. and the DOT says to expect delays on SR 24.
