State Sues Feds Over Hanford

The State Department of Ecology fines the U.S. Department of Energy over the federal agency’s restriction of data related to the Hanford Nuclear Site cleanup. The $1 million fine was assessed on Monday with Ecology officials saying they are not getting the information the feds are required to supply under an agreement covering the cleanup and they’ve been trying for three years to get compliance. The Department of Energy will likely appeal the fine.
