Area law enforcement agencies and the community are rallying around Royal City Police Chief Darin Smith. According to a social media post from Smith’s wife he’s been sidelined since last October due to post-traumatic stress disorder and underwent immediate treatment after taking leave. She says since then they’ve been fortunate to find a center that treats PTSD for law enforcement officers and Smith is beginning a six-week treatment program. There’s been no official word on Smith’s leave from Royal City officials.
