Soap Lake water and sewer customers will be digging a little deeper into their pockets when their 2018 bills come due. Last week the city council voted to raise water rates by 20 percent and sewer rates by 15 percent. Officials say the average hike should be between $13 and $14 a month. The increases resulted from a study that showed revenues weren’t keeping up with operational cost increases. The council also voted to set aside $250,000 per year for sewer and water improvement projects.
