DUI-E Ticket Grace Period Ends Jan. 1

The get-acquainted period with Washington’s new driving while under the influence of electronics – also known as DUI-E – is coming to a close. The state patrol says beginning January 1 they will stop handing out warnings to those caught using their handheld device while driving and pass out real tickets with fines that start at $136 and go to $234 for each subsequent offense. Unlike older lawm Insurance companies will now be notified when a DUI-E ticket is issued.
