3 Million Washingtonians Affected By Security Breaches

A report released Wedesday from the state Attorney General’s office says nearly 3 million Washingtonians had their information compromised in data breaches in the past year. The study says those numbers cover the period from July 2016 and this past July – is six times the number affected by breaches the previous year. Cyberattacks accounted for the largest share of the breaches while the rest were attributed to unauthorized access to to information, or due to loss or theft of equipment or hardware.
