Corrections Officer Arrested For Shoplifting

A state department of corrections officer from Pasco was arrested last Friday for several shoplifting incidents at Walmart on Road 68. Police say George Smalling used the self-checkout lane to steal the items by scanning one item and passing others over the reader. According to investigators in some cases Smalling was wearing his uniform when he was shoplifting. The total value of the items taken was under $400. Smalling formerly worked in loss prevention at that Walmart store before leaving to take the corrections position.
